Pastor
Davis is the 8th child born to Gloria and William Davis on July
11, 1967.
On
December 2, 1979 Pastor Davis became a member of the body of
Christ. During his preparation for his present call, Pastor
Davis served as a Sunday School Teacher, Assistant Sunday School
Secretary, Youth Choir President, Director of the Mass Choir,
Trustee and he served as Minister of Music for eighteen years
until accepting his call into the preaching ministry.
February
25, 2003 would be the beginning of a new life that would be
viewed as a quick and miraculous move of God. Pastor Davis accepted
his calling into the preaching ministry. He
was named the Youth Pastor under the leadership of Pastor B.C.
Brooks of Praise of Zion Baptist Church, obtained his license
March 30, 2003 and ordained June 1, 2003. On October 29, 2003,
under the direction of the Holy Spirit, it was unanimously agreed
that Pastor Derrick Dewayne Davis would become the moderator
and Pastor of Tabernacle of Praise Missionary Baptist Church.
Pastor
Davis is a proud product of Memphis City School. He graduated
from Hamilton High School in 1985. He attended Jett Barber and
Business College as well as taken valuable leadership courses
from the University of Memphis and Christian Brothers College.
Pastor Davis is currently employed at Federal Express Corporation
where he is an administrator for the Memphis Hub Operation for
over 17 years.
Pastor
Davis is also a family man. For fifteen years, he has been married
to Glenda Davis. He and his wife are proud parents of three
lovely children, Derrius and twins Glenise and Derren.
